Terms of service

Terms, in plain English.

Last updated: 20 April 2026

A plain-English note: this page is written by the CoinSprout team in clear language so you can actually read it. It hasn’t been reviewed by a lawyer. If you represent a company or have questions that need legal advice, email [email protected] and we’ll work through it with you.

These are the terms that govern your use of CoinSprout. By creating an account or using the service, you’re agreeing to them. We try to keep this page short and honest.

TL;DR

  • Use CoinSprout for your personal or household finances. Don’t use it to do illegal things.
  • Your data is yours. You can export or delete it at any time.
  • CoinSprout isn’t financial advice. Double-check AI-parsed numbers against your actual bank statements.
  • We don’t guarantee zero downtime. We do our best.
  • We can change these terms. We’ll tell you when it’s material.

Who can use CoinSprout

You need to be at least 13 years old (16 in the EU / EEA). If you’re using CoinSprout on behalf of an organization, you need to be authorized to agree to these terms on its behalf.

Your account

  • Give us a real email address you control — it’s how you recover your account and receive digests you opt into.
  • Keep your password secure. If you suspect unauthorized access, change it immediately.
  • One person per account. You can be a member of multiple households, but each person is one account.
  • If you’re in a household, you and your co-members can see the shared (joint) accounts, budgets, and goals — not each other’s personal accounts.

Acceptable use

Use CoinSprout for its intended purpose: tracking your own finances and those of your household. Don’t:

  • Use the service to track someone else’s finances without their consent.
  • Upload content you don’t have the right to upload, or content that violates the law.
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or otherwise try to extract data from CoinSprout beyond your own account.
  • Attempt to break the service, probe for vulnerabilities without authorization, or abuse the AI parsing endpoint (e.g. bulk uploads designed to circumvent usage limits).
  • Resell or sublicense access to CoinSprout.

We may suspend or close accounts that do any of the above.

AI-parsed data

CoinSprout uses AI to parse bank statements into transactions. AI parsing is not perfect. You’re responsible for reviewing every parsed transaction before committing, and for keeping your own records. CoinSprout is a tool — it isn’t an accountant, a tax advisor, or a financial institution, and it doesn’t give financial, tax, or legal advice.

If a parsed number is wrong, you edit it before commit. After commit, you can still edit or delete any transaction. The commit step exists precisely so you can check the AI’s work.

Your data

  • You own the data you put into CoinSprout.
  • We process it to run the service (see the privacy policy for details).
  • You can export everything as JSON from Settings at any time.
  • You can delete your account from Settings, which removes all your data from our systems within a reasonable period.

Pricing

CoinSprout is free to use while it’s still in early growth. We may introduce paid plans in the future. If we do, we’ll give existing users meaningful notice before anything changes — and we won’t hold your data hostage if you decide not to upgrade.

Service availability

We work hard to keep CoinSprout running, but we don’t promise 100% uptime. Things break — our vendors have incidents, networks glitch, updates occasionally regress something. We’ll fix problems as fast as we can and communicate when we need to.

Third-party services

CoinSprout depends on third-party services (listed in the privacy policy). If one of them has an outage, parts of CoinSprout may not work. We aren’t responsible for the acts or omissions of those services beyond the vendor choice itself.

Termination

  • You can close your account at any time from Settings. All your data is deleted.
  • We can close accounts that violate these terms, appear to be used fraudulently, or put other users or the service at risk. We’ll give notice when we reasonably can.
  • We can discontinue the service. If we ever shut CoinSprout down, we’ll give active users reasonable notice and a chance to export their data before the lights go off.

Disclaimer

CoinSprout is provided “as is” and “as available.” We make no warranties about the service — including fitness for any particular purpose, accuracy of AI parsing, uninterrupted availability, or that the service will be error-free. To the extent allowed by law, we disclaim implied warranties.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CoinSprout and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, punitive, or exemplary damages — including lost profits, lost data (where you had the means to back it up via the export tool), or business interruption. Our total cumulative liability for any claim arising out of these terms or your use of the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim or (b) €50.

Indemnification

If your use of CoinSprout causes us legal trouble — for example, because you uploaded content you didn’t have the right to — you agree to cover our reasonable costs of defending against it. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer under the mandatory law of your country.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Portugal, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Disputes that can’t be resolved by emailing us should be brought before the competent courts of Portugal. If you’re a consumer in the EU / EEA, you retain the right to bring claims in the courts of your country of residence.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via in-app notice or email before they take effect. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page always reflects the current version. Continued use of CoinSprout after a change means you accept the new terms.
